Irfan Nafiev was born on August 10, 1951, in the village of Krasnoarmeysk, Mirzachul district of the Tashkent region of the Uzbek SSR. He is a graduate of the Republican Art College named after P. Benkov in Tashkent (1975). In 1990 he graduated from Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute.

Since 1995 Irfan Nafiev has been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. He is an Honored Artist of Crimea. Since 2001, he has headed the Association of Crimean Tatar Artists. He is a participant of republican and international exhibitions. Irfan Nafiev's paintings are kept in the collections of the State Crimean Tatar Museum of Cultural and Historical Heritage, in other museums and private collections in Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Turkey.

The artist works as a senior lecturer at the Department of Fine Arts of Crimean Engineering and Pedagogical University. He is the author of a methodological manual for 1st-grade teachers, "Tasviriy sanat" ("Fine Arts").

Irfan Nafiev's creative work is a sea of transparent, deep colors glowing with warmth. It is a gallery of expressive, melodious images. His paintings are sincere and poetic, evoking either joy or hidden grief. The pictures enlighten and beckon. In them, the radiant Crimea shines either with quiet sadness, or with the picturesque coziness of its innermost corners. And literally in every picture, there is something elusive, soft and melodious that touches to the core.
